    Anti-Bullying Flash Mob Teens

    South Oxnard Branch Library

    In front of the library Children, youth and adults will kick-off an advocacy campaign to address bullying in schools and neighborhoods with a dance performance. Coordinated by Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation, groups will learn the dance after school on dates to be determined.

    Jeffrey Wayne Maulhardt will launch his newest book Legendary Locals of Oxnard at the main library. He will take us back in time for a glimpse at some of the unsung heroes and the notorious personalities who settled and worked the Oxnard plain. After his talk, Maulhardt will be happy to sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase at the Library Gift Shop.

    Learn about the Teatro de las Americas from executive director Dr. Margaret Cortese as she shares the history and mission of this theater group that performs plays written predominantly by Spanish and Latin American playwrights. You'll also hear about the new play they will be performing at the Black Box Theater at Oxnard College in June. This event is free to all courtesy of the Oxnard Friends of the Library Foundation.

    “The Sweetest Sounds: Richard Rodgers and the American Musical”

    Richard Rodgers was a legendary influence on the art of the musical theater. He wrote or co-wrote many Broadway musicals and has won countless awards, including a Pulitzer, Tony, Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy. Bruce Collins will tell you about this extraordinary man and draw upon his personal musical collection of over 200 CDs to play some of Rodgers’ memorable classic songs such as “Getting to Know You” and “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered.”
